Fresh off the success of The Grudge, horror queen Sarah Michelle Gellar is planning to star in another supernatural thriller, Variety reports. In Revolver, the erstwhile vampire slayer will play a successful businesswoman who's driven by her nightmares to explore the mystery behind another woman's death 25 years ago. Directing will be London-born director Asif Kapadia, whose only previous feature is the 2001 Hindi-language epic The Warrior. There's no start date yet for the film, which comes from Rogue Pictures, the imprint of Focus Features that's behind such horror movies as Shaun of the Dead and Seed of Chucky.
Meanwhile, a Grudge sequel is in the works, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Screenwriter Stephen Susco is aboard, but there's no word on whether Gellar or Takashi Shimizu, who directed both the Japanese original and the American remake, will return. Shimizu has already written and directed several Japanese films in the Grudge series, but it's not clear if Susco's screenplay will be an adaptation of one of those or will take off in a new direction.
