He kicked heroin in Trainspotting, fought the dark side of the Force in the Star Wars prequels, and rode a motorcycle around the world on the current Bravo reality series Long Way Round. So making his musical stage debut in a revival of Guys and Dolls on London's West End shouldn't be too hard for the multitalented Ewan McGregor. According to the Associated Press, McGregor will star as dashing gambler Sky Masterson next June at a theater yet to be named. Producing the show will be the acclaimed Donmar Warehouse, marking the company's first production outside its own 250-seat theater.
How will McGregor stack up against past Mastersons? Unlike Marlon Brando, who played the role in the 1955 movie version, McGregor has proved (in Moulin Rouge) that he can actually sing. Surely, he'll be at least as charismatic a lead as Peter Gallagher, who played the role in the celebrated 1992 Broadway revival, though McGregor doesn't have eyebrows that can be seen from the back row of the theater.
