It's outta there! Sorry, sports fans, but on Nov. 8, CBS yanked the baseball drama, starring Christopher Lloyd and Dean Cain, from its lineup and replaced it with repeats of The Amazing Race 6 and Cold Case.
History
Although its Sept. 28 debut drew a respectable if not home-run-caliber
10 million viewers, follow-up episodes struck out. ''We just couldn't
find our audience,'' says executive producer Daniel Cerone. Indeed, by
week 3, ratings had tumbled 25 percent, prompting CBS to move the show
from Tuesdays to Saturdays. A further slip in viewers to 4.1 million led
to early retirement for the New York Empires. ''CBS, right now, dominates
the ratings with procedural and crime shows,'' says Cerone. ''There's no
market for family dramas.''
Comeback prospects
None
DVD release prospects''There's always hope,'' muses Cerone. ''But no, there are no plans right now.''
