On record, with no chance to use facial expressions or his body, Kevin Spacey still manages to get across Bobby Darin's loose-limbed grace and powerful allure. The actor's singing is more than adequate on this soundtrack from the legendary crooner's biopic Beyond the Sea, and he nails the details: Darin's jam-packed delivery on such up-tempo numbers as ''Hello Young Lovers,'' his blithe swing on hits like ''Splish Splash.'' Backed by John Wilson's 73-piece orchestra, his ordinary voice delivers an extraordinary performance.
