The chart-topping Christian pop group Point of Grace launches a concert tour of U.S. churches

Instead of filling arenas across the country, the Contemporary Christian singers Point of Grace -- who start their 31-city national tour today in Minneapolis -- are returning to church. The Grammy-nominated quartet (Shelley Breen, Heather Floyd, Denise Jones, and Terry Jones), which has released 15 consecutive No. 1 singles on Billboard's Contemporary Christian chart, is celebrating the success of the latest album, "Steady On," by performing at Protestant churches from Kalamazoo, Mich., to Panama City, Fla.

"On our last tour we played at a lot of arenas, but our heart is in the church," Floyd tells EW Online. "We found that in arenas we'd be 100 feet from the front row, and you can't look into people's eyes from that far away. At churches, the front row is right there, and that's what we want." Despite "Steady On"'s debut at No. 24 on the Billboard pop charts, Point of Grace has no Amy Grant-like crossover plans for future albums. "Amy did it, and she has opened many doors for us to talk to the secular media, and for the world to see that Christian music even exists," Floyd says. "I have to support what she's done and how many people she's reached, but that avenue is not for Point of Grace." The church tour includes stops in Houston (Oct. 8-9), Dallas (Oct. 10), Cincinnati (Oct. 15), Louisville (Oct. 27), and Orlando (Nov. 6)
