Here are this week's new video releases (with EW grade):

  • The X-Files The gimmick is out there! To entice fans to rent and buy the video, Fox has added extra footage to last summer's box office hit that answers a burning question about the TV series' mysterious and often confusing plotlines. We can't give it away -- you'll have to rent it! (EW grade: A-)
  • The Last Days of Disco Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny star in Whit Stillman's film about the fast times, loose drugs, and velvet ropes of early '80s New York nightlife. (EW Grade: A-)
  • I Got The Hook-Up Rapper Master P plays a con artist who rips off a truckload of cellular phones, then goes about hooking up the local hood with the goods. (EW Grade: C-)
  • Major League: Back to the Minors A washed-up ball player ("Quantum Leap"'s Scott Bakula) attempts to lead a cracked team of triple-A misfits to respectability -- and a shot at their Major League counterparts, the Minnesota Twins. (EW Grade: C-)
  • Suicide Kings Christopher Walken and Denis Leary star in this poor man's Tarantino knockoff about a kidnapped crimelord who ends up tormenting his trust-fund captors. (EW Grade: C-)
  • Tarzan and the Lost City Casper Van Dien ("Starship Troopers") dons a loin cloth in the latest attempt to be the king of the jungle. He doesn't succeed. (EW Grade: F)

    ON DVD

  • KundunThis tale about the early life of the Dali Lama received little fanfare in the theaters, but Martin Scorsese's gorgeous cinematography is well served by the DVD medium's superior sharpness.
