Queen Latifah has a new talk show, as long as it doesn't bore her

Add another hyphenate to actor-rapper Queen Latifah's title: Talk-show host. Her new syndicated daytime chatfest, "Latifah," has been sold to 7 of the top 10 TV markets for airing next fall, which bodes well for it being picked up elsewhere. The Queen agreed to the project last year, soon after Fox's cancellation of "Living Single," but she insisted that they hold off on selling it for a little while. "I didn't want to go from television to television," says Latifah, 28, who used the time to appear in the upcoming films "Living Out Loud" (in theaters Oct. 30) and "The Bone Collector," which she is now shooting with Denzel Washington.

Expect to see a varied show when Latifah hits the air with celebrity guests, music, and topical talk. "I don't want it to be typical, and I don't want to get bored doing it. I get bored easily," she tells EW Online. "I want it to bring together entertainment and issues, because that's what I've always done as a rapper." But don't expect her to be serious all the time. "I don't want to leave there crying every damn day," she says. "The pilot was real heavy, so I was like, 'Whoa. We gotta have some fun around here if you don't mind, okay kids?'"
