Supermodel Kate Moss checks herself into a London clinic

While Kate Moss' wan and wasted looks made her the personification of supermodel junkie chic in the early '90s, Johnny Depp's former flame managed to avoid becoming a poster girl for substance abuse when not in front of cameras. But now comes word that the 24-year-old has checked herself into the Priory Clinic in southwest London, a $500-a-day retreat best known as Britain's version of the Betty Ford Center. Though Moss is placing the blame on "too much partying," according to the London Mirror, an equally likely suspect may be the company she's been keeping.

"I wasn't happy with the way my life was going, so I decided to take a step back and assess my life and future," Moss tells the Mirror. A friend of the model is somewhat more blunt, telling the paper that Moss had been "hitting the bottle" recently and suffered a "mini-collapse" before entering the clinic. According to London's News of the World, Moss' stepfather claims that the model assured him she had been taking "no drugs at all."

While Moss has been linked to such high-profile bad boys as Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio, her most recent fling isn't likely to have stemmed her self-proclaimed weakness for champagne. This September the New York Daily News linked Moss to Evan Dando, the Lemonhead lead singer who has his own rehab war stories. Though Dando has reportedly cleaned up his act since his mid '90s party peak, he has been open about his unwillingness to commit to sobriety lock, stock and barrel, admitting to a current taste for tequila.
