Will Smith can't keep his cable stations straight

In "Enemy of the State," Will Smith plays Robert Dean, a luckless attorney who, thanks to a case of mistaken identity, loses his job, finds his credit cards have been canceled, and discovers his entire world crumbling around him. So maybe his character can be forgiven if he momentarily confuses his cable-TV newscasts.

In one of the film's scenes, Dean and his wife (played by Regina King) are watching CNN. But even though CNN is given a nod in the credits of the film, Dean grumbles, "Stop watching that MSNBC crap" to his significant other. The NBC cable upstart can thank Smith for the free plug. According to a Disney representative, "it was ad-libbed and it wasn't in the script."

While MSNBC may have come out ahead of the competition in this case, the same can't be said of "Enemy of the State." Last weekend the movie was trumped by the carpet-crawlers of "Rugrats," though Touchstone execs are counting on adults to hit the theaters in droves over the holiday weekend.
