ALL IN THE FAMILY Rosanna Arquette, who plays an aging actress dealing with the frustrations of ageist Hollywood in "Sugar Town," can relate a little too well to her character's problems. "I'm excited about getting older -- the roles are becoming more interesting," says Arquette, 39. "But it's hard because I'll go up for a role that I'm the right age for and they'll want a 22-year-old. It's insane".... Meanwhile, Rosanna's actor brother Richmond Arquette is getting no joy from Todd Solondz's buzzed-about indie "Happiness," and he doesn't care who knows it. "'Happiness' was a piece of crap," says Richmond, who is also the sibling of thespians David, Alexis, and Patricia. "This is 1999, we don't need that kind of perspective," he explains. "I liked 'Sugar Town' because it's about love, it isn't cynical. I realize I may never get work in a Todd Solondz movie, and I absolutely loved 'Welcome to the Dollhouse,' but I just hated that movie 'Happiness.'"
CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS It seems some of the Hollywood contingent at the fest is making the time for a little movie culture in their hectic party schedules. John Waters managed to make an early-morning screening of the Guy Pearce film "A Slipping-Down Life," while former X coleader John Doe was spotted at a screening of the documentary "American Movie." On the party scene, Scott Wolff was seen making an exit from the party held for the Rose McGowan film "Jawbreaker," where McGowan and costar Rebecca Gayheart were drawing crowds. "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone also showed up at Thursday night's Lapdance party at the Silver Mine.
