CASTING Matt Dillon will ditch his "There's Something About Mary" choppers to sink his teeth into a more dramatic role in "Pony Rides." Dillon's character comes from a long line of male prostitutes and struggles to break out of the family business.... Kevin Spacey and Danny DeVito, who last teamed up in "L.A. Confidential," are joining again. The two will play industrial lubricant salesmen who meet at a convention in the comedy "Hospitality Suite".... Owen Wilson, cowriter of "Rushmore," will put the pen down to costar with Jackie Chan in the Western comedy "Shanghai Noon," playing a train robber in the Old West who teams with a Chinese man sent to rescue a kidnapped princess. Wilson has also appeared in "Armageddon" and "The Cable Guy".... Quirkmeister David Arquette will portray rocker Darby Crash of the '70s punk band The Germs in "What We Do Is Secret." The film will trace the rise and demise of the seminal band.... The long-gestating Janis Joplin biopic looks like it finally may come out of its holding pattern. Although the Texan singer was originally supposed to be played by Melissa Etheridge, the role has now gone to another actress with famous pipes: Brittany Murphy, who voices Luanne on the animated "King of the Hill." Murphy also played Alicia Silverstone's makeover subject in "Clueless."
GIVING IN NBC has given in to criticism and has decided to air its interview with Juanita Broaddrick, who claims President Clinton sexually assaulted her 21 years ago. The Lisa Myers interview has been delayed for a month, and NBC has been accused of bowing to White House pressure by holding it. In the meantime, Broaddrick has granted interviews to several other newspapers. The segment will air on "Dateline NBC" tonight at 8 p.m.
REEL DEAL Bette Midler's company All Girl Productions has signed a TV- and movie-production deal with Sony Entertainment. First on its to-do list is developing a new sitcom for Midler for next fall.
REUNITING They wanna rock... again. '80s trans-gargoyles Twisted Sister are reapplying its makeup and reuniting for the band's first tour in 12 years this summer. The group first reformed last year to record a song for the soundtrack to leader Dee Snider's horror flick, "Strangeland."
