The Stupidest Angel (2004)

The Stupidest Angel, without a doubt, is the greatest story ever told about fruit bats, zombies, and miracles. In the once peaceful town of Pine Cove, Calif., a shovel-wielding ex-wife, a pot-smoking sheriff, and one misguided archangel glide on an icy stream of brilliant metaphor to a blockbuster ending that Jerry Bruckheimer should put on his list for Santa (but only if he's been good). Christopher Moore's prose is hyper but never shticky, and his compassion for this island of misfits shines as bright as the samurai sword wielded by a schizophrenic warrior woman on a not-so-silent Christmas Eve.
