So this is what music education in our schools has come to: On Jan. 11, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis played a very exclusive private concert for a class of preschoolers, ages 2 to 5, at the Hollywood Little Red Schoolhouse in L.A. (which his son, Nathan, 3, attends), as part of the school's career day. Davis refrained from performing any Korn material -- probably a wise decision -- instead serenading the tots with bagpipes.
''They were mesmerized,'' says the school's principal, Debra Pease Wehbe. No doubt operating under the premise that it's never too early to begin recruiting fans, Davis ''gave out Korn photos, signed autographs, and talked to the kids,'' according to a Korn spokesperson. One student present (whose mom requested anonymity for the youngster) offered this succinct review: ''It was loud.''
