With a mediocre debut, a series of contrived makeovers, and a high profile beef with Oasis, Blur have always seemed a little silly to inattentive Americans. Nonetheless, the band has quietly crafted some of the best singles of the '90s, most of which are included (along with one inscrutable new tune) on the double disc The Best of Blur.
From the early ''She's So High'' through Brit pop staples like ''Country House'' and later triumphs (the heartbreaking ''No Distance Left to Run''), Blur's best is a lot better than many people on these shores realize.
