Given all this, Lindsay Lohan knows that she'll be asked the same three questions in every interview, and she has her answers down cold: ''The dad question, that's inevitable. I just say, 'No comment. He's my dad, and I love him.' And now the boyfriend thing: 'What's going on with Wilmer? What happened?' I basically just say, 'We're still cool, everything's fine. We'll see what happens.' And that's the end of that one. Oh, the partying. 'Are you really this party girl that everyone says?' I'm like, 'I go to a club, and yeah, sometimes dance on a stool just because it's fun.''' Lohan says the media's fascination with rumors — which, incidentally, is the title of her angry first single — doesn't really trouble her. ''I'm kind of glad all that happened, because people know that I'm a real person and I deal with real issues.''
Ask the actress what she wishes people did ask her, and Lohan draws a momentary blank. ''I don't know. I guess, why don't people ask about what my upcoming projects are? Nobody seems to care about that anymore. Um, I don't know. What else is there? I wish I was asked more about how my family is — or not even, because that's kind of personal. But about what I do during my free time. Am I going to take a vacation? Am I feeling good? Just, like, more of the positive stuff and less of the negative.''
Spend enough time with Lohan and she'll slowly shed her upbeat script. Underneath all the media training and Hollywood shellac, there actually is a regular teenage girl — albeit one with money, fame, and an inordinate amount of pressure placed on her narrow shoulders. Dina agrees that this last year has been hard on her famous daughter. ''Lindsay's at a very tender age. You know, she grew,'' she says, cupping her hands to her chest in an unsolicited address of Lindsay's oft-questioned cleavage. ''They're real, by the way.''
