9-11PM Legend of Earthsea (Sci Fi Channel, TV-PG-V) Swords and sorcery clash in this two-parter about a scrappy wizard (X-Men's Shawn Ashmore (left), who fights an unspeakable evil he accidentally unleashed upon the land of Earthsea. Dodging this nefarious being (who bears a passing resemblance to He-Man's Skeletor) and eluding a power-hungry king, our hero still finds time to hang with a hottie priestess (Smallville's Kristin Kreuk, left). Not nearly as awesome as Frodo and his Ring, but at this point we'll take anything to fill the LOTR void. B- —Nisha Gopalan

FAMILY TIES ALERT 1! 8-8:30PM Still Standing (CBS, TV-14-D) Justine Bateman as a lesbian still makes more sense than Mallory and Scott Valentine.

8-9PM 7th Heaven (The WB, TV-G) Kids, absolutely tells your folks you're having sex. But if you're on academic probation 'cause you've been skipping classes to do it, maybe pack first. (R)

9-9:30PM Girlfriends (UPN, TV-PG-L) Look, Joan and William: The kids on 7th Heaven face academic probation and parental ire to get it on. And you're gonna let a little blizzard stop you? Weak.

9-10PM Mawson's Will (History Channel, TV-PG) An arctic explorer survived the loss of his friends, dog, and supplies. But he never wanted a popsicle again.

9-10PM Explorer Special Edition: Female Suicide Bombers (National Geographic Channel, TV-PG) Right. Like I'd go there.
