WHAT'S THE STORY? Middle-earth comes to life on a Trivial Pursuit board and a DVD that includes stills and scenes from the film, plus animated questions. It's played like the regular game (collect those pie pieces!) but with different question categories: Good Characters, Evil Characters, and Warfare, to name a few.
AMUSING FEATURES The game pieces are plastic renditions of Aragon (Viggo Mortensen, pictured), Frodo, Gandalf, and the lovely Galadriel, with the pie slivers snapping in place underneath their pedestals. Even cooler, Gollum (Andy Serkis) asks the game-winning question!
WHO SHOULD PLAY Only absolute, die-hard, ''I know absolutely EVERYTHING there is to know about LOTR'' fans. It's really, really hard. (Would anybody be able to look at a photo of a hill and tell whether it's in Rivendell or the Shire?)
FUN FACT Trivial Pursuit isn't the only way to get your Ring on there are special editions of Risk, Backgammon, and Stratego tied to the movies. And for beginners, there's even an LOTR twist on the classic Monopoly, in which you play for Middle-earth territories.
THE LOWDOWN What should be a challenging but enjoyable game can turn into a frustrating, pie-throwing melee given the severe nitpickiness of the questions. The DVD contains 20 different games (five questions per category), each successive game more difficult than the previous. LOTR scholars will revel in it, while mere mortals will go down like the dwarves.
