Like whacked out Mickey Rooneys and Judy Garlands, director John Waters' motley band of ''guerrilla'' filmmakers -- led by Stephen Dorff's eponymous gonzo auteur -- put on their own show, kidnapping mainstream movie star Honey Whitlock (Melanie Griffith) to do it. Cecil B. Demented has its moments -- the gang trashes a multiplex and shoots up the set of ''Gump Again,'' starring Kevin Nealon -- but Hollywood dreck is an easy target, and it's never clear what, exactly, these kids want to replace it with. They have their causes: pro- porn, anti- MPAA ratings, but in the end, the art they're fighting for is just plain bad.
