''Making the Band'': Dawn can't get in tune | 124851__Dawn_l
LOW DAWN DIRTY SHAME She had a hard time with the high notes

It's become somewhat inevitable that in the midst of a Making the Band season, the girls will visit Miami. Puff loves himself some Miami. He finally decided the ladies were ready to record an album, and so the girls met some of the producers he'd assembled for them, including producing pro Scott Storch. Storch also recently appeared as himself on Hogan Knows Best, guiding the career of Brooke Hogan. At least Danity Kane is a step up. I'm a little confused, however, as to Storch's look: Does he have eyes? He's always wearing those shades. But the man knows how to craft a hit. And I love his vocal producer, Pooh Bear. That name is fantastic.

Next the girls took a little spin around Miami in one of Diddy's old cars, a Bentley convertible. Trying to look cool, they sat up on the back of the car. That cover was blown, though, when a police officer pulled the car over and told the girls they were breaking the law. It was pretty hilarious. And I loved it when Dawn claimed that Aundrea could hardly see above the wheel with all that hair.

The girls got their first big ego check when they recorded a pretty hot song that Storch and Pooh Bear had come up with for them, called ''Sleep on It.'' All the singers were able to nail their parts except for poor Dawn. Her voice is simply deeper than the others, and she couldn't hit the right notes. Diddy ended up giving Dawn a new part of the song to sing. This made the girls realize that any of them could be replaceable. I felt bad for Dawn, but these girls definitely need to toughen up if they expect to make it in this business. I feel like every episode features a different girl breaking down, and they're just beginning.

And did anyone notice that Aubrey's hair color changed yet again? This girl is gonna need a wig by the time she's 30. That cannot be healthy for her hair.

I'm eager to hear what the other songs sound like. It would be great if one these bands finally made it, and I think the Danity Kane girls have the best shot. They're talented, likable, and smooth enough to talk themselves out of a traffic ticket. What more could people want?

Next week looks to be another crisis for Aubrey. It was hard to tell what exactly was happening, but it seemed as if Aubrey got cut off the next song and was flirting at a club in Miami. Oh Aubrey, you're fantastic, but you need to pull it together. Take a cue from Xtina and class it up a bit. If we've learned anything from Britney Spears, it's that image is everything.

What do you think? Were you surprised at how much coaching the girls got in the studio? Should any of them be replaced? And do you think passengers are really allowed to ride on the back of cars in California?
