'PANIC' BUTTON Navarro and two of his Jane's mates seem like a band lost in time on ONe
The Panic Channe: Paul Natkin/WireImage.com

Credits

Release Date: Aug 15, 2006; Lead Performance: The Panic Channel; Genre: Rock

Despite the big personalities in this new quartet (guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Chris Chaney from Jane's Addiction, along with singer Steve Isaacs), their debut ONe is surprisingly pedestrian. Part of the blame belongs to former MTV VJ Isaacs, an utterly generic frontman. The bigger problem is that 15 years removed from their peak years, Navarro and Perkins are still revisiting a dated '90s grunge pop sound, complete with lung-emptying choruses, spiraling guitar riffage, and clichéd lyrics about addiction and mysticism. Pick up a Stone Temple Pilots disc instead.
