A legend across the Atlantic, this 62-year-old Scottish troubadour remains unjustly obscure in the States. The Black Swan features reverent guest turns from several of the contemporary folkies he's influenced, including Beth Orton (whose warm, weary voice graces three songs) and fringe favorite Devendra Banhart. But Jansch's solo numbers make it clear that his nimble acoustic picking and rueful musings need no accompaniment; 41 years after his debut, he can still demand to be heard.
