CHARACTER Iris Steensma, child prostitute
IMPERILED? It's not always clear who's the greater danger to Iris: her pimp, Sport (Harvey Keitel), or Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro), the obsessive, gun-wielding cabbie who wants to rescue her from prostitution.
EMPOWERED? Brimming with attitude, Iris at least talks tough to both Sport and Travis.
