HIGHLIGHTS You can see how long and tangled this show's seven-year path has been by watching the 7 p.m. rebroadcast of the first episode from 1999 remember Sam (Rob Lowe) discovering to his horror that he's just slept with a call girl? Josh (Bradley Whitford) offending Christian groups with an offhand comment? By contrast, the finale, which airs immediately after the pilot rerun, should be far less freewheeling and much more wistful and emotional, as the Bartlet administration finally turns over the White House to new president Matt Santos (Jimmy Smits, seated, with, from left, Whitford, Lowe, and Matthew Del Negro).
BURNING QUESTIONS Will President Bartlet sum up his two terms in a Latin oration? Since the episode is titled ''Tomorrow,'' will we return to the flash-forward at the Bartlet Presidential Library that opened the season? Will Josh and Donna live happily ever after?
