BARBEROUS ACTS
Depp plays a bitter barber-turned-chef in the Tim Burton-helmed Sweeney Todd, based on Stephen Sondheim's acclaimed 1979 musical-theater piece. EW's Lisa Schwarzbaum says, ''Oh, Captain Jack Sparrow, gone to the really, really dark side! ....painted in chalky pallor and drop-dead under-eye shadows out of the Pirates of the Caribbean-Edward Scissorhands makeup bag, Depp propels the production through sheer graceful grit of stardom. He's the most interesting person on the screen, and the demon barber he conjures is a fascinating interpretation.'' (Read the rest of Lisa's review here.)
