Dillon had played lots of cool kids and streetwise hipsters before, but seldom an outright naif until Larry Maretto, the unwitting small-town husband whom Suzanne Stone (Nicole Kidman, shown) uses as a stepping stone on her lethally ruthless path toward fame as a TV journalist. The dark comedy reteamed him with Drugstore Cowboy director Gus Van Sant.
