The scariest thing about the Hitchcock classic? It never answers the question of why the birds have suddenly and senselessly started attacking in swarms and pecking to death the human residents of Bodega Bay. A lot of fingers point, however, to sexually brazen newcomer Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren, center), who seems to be trailing bad karma in her wake as she pursues local hottie Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor). Hedren's been making up for it ever since, caring for lions, tigers, and elephants at her wildlife preserve Shambala.
