This time, he came prepared. At the Golden Globes, Forest Whitaker seemed too overwhelmed to speak when he won the Best Actor prize for The Last King of Scotland, but he's been feted so many times since then for his portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, he knew what to say on the Academy's big night. He traced his love of film from his boyhood watching from the back seat at the drive-in to the seemingly unimaginable pinnacle of his Oscar victory, and he spoke movingly of acting as a way to make dreams come true and change reality.
