78. KATE WINSLET
Heavenly Creatures (1994)
With porcelain skin, bee-stung lips, and strawberry-blond locks, the angel-faced Winslet alighted in film with the devil inside her in Peter Jackson's thriller about two teens whose hyperactive imaginations lead to matricide. Her vivacious Juliet, a lonely child, envelops the sullen Pauline (Melanie Lynskey) and gusts from elation to hysteria. Winslet's perfect storm makes it easier to see how these headstrong girls got so tragically carried away.
