Tersest Winner
Ethan Coen
No Country for Old Men's Joel and Ethan Coen may be brilliant filmmakers, but when talking about their films in interviews or acceptance speeches they are men of few words. Especially Ethan (left), whose entire Best Adapted Screenplay speech was, ''We, uh, and thank you very much.'' Accepting the Best Director prize a few minutes later, he said, ''I don't have a lot to add to what I said earlier. Thank you.'' By the time the brothers won Best Picture, they both let producer Scott Rudin do all the talking.
