''Simpsons Movie'': Hanging at the wacky premiere | pittroberts_l

Part of the fun of The Simpsons has always been the cameos: U2, the Who, Stephen Hawking, Kiefer Sutherland, Jay Leno, Susan Sarandon, Glenn Close, Tom Brady, Elizabeth Taylor, Alec Baldwin, numerous members of the original Star Trek cast, and the Ramones are just some of the famous folks who've visited Springfield. The movie doesn't disappoint either, as Tom Hanks, Green Day, and Albert Brooks all make appearances. We polled the regulars on who they hope comes to town next season or, perhaps, for a movie sequel.

Dan Castellaneta (Homer, Grampa, Krusty, Mayor Quimby): ''Clint Eastwood would be great. He has a very distinctive voice and I don't know that he has ever done animation before. We would like to add to our list of Hollywood legends who have appeared. I think Clint would have to play himself because his voice is so recognizable, but the writers decide that kind of stuff.''

Julie Kavner (Marge): ''I think anybody would enjoy a trip to Springfield. We're fun people and Spingfield is a lovely town. Maybe Jack Nicholson would be a good guest because his voice is so recognizable.''

Jim Brooks (writer/producer): ''We have never had a president or an ex-president of the United States on the show. We have an open invitation out to them, but for some reason they all turn us down. It would be great to have Clinton do dueling saxophones with Lisa.''

Harry Shearer (Mr. Burns/ Rev. Lovejoy/Otto/Smithers/Principal Skinner/Ned Flanders/President Arnold Schwarzenegger): ''It is just a shame that James Brown died before he could be animated by our team.''

Hank Azaria (Comic Book Guy/Chief Wiggum/Apu/Dr. Nick/Professor Frink): ''I'm gonna have to go with Springsteen. I'm a longtime fan and it would be so cool. Wiggum could be on his security detail when he comes to town. The Boss is my boss.''

Yeardley Smith (Lisa): ''I don't know if he would make a good character, but I really want to meet Michael Strahan [NY Giants]. My husband is a huge football fan and by proxy I have become a huge fan. I think Michael is very well-spoken and lovely in interviews and I think it would be lovely to talk shop with him. Can you work that out for me? Can EW arrange that meeting? You guys know people right? And if not him, Julia Roberts should come hang out with us.''

Nancy Cartwright (Bart): ''I would love to play with Robin Williams. He's someone I can't believe hasn't been on the show yet because he is so high energy and does so many voices and impersonations. It would also be fun to have Tom Cruise on the show. Or I'd love to play with Brad Pitt. Wouldn't every girl? One thing for him to think about: On The Simpsons, he could get that Troy body back without ever having to work out.''

Pamela Hayden (Milhouse): ''My heart is all aflutter at the very thought of country stars coming on the show. I am a huge fan of traditional country music. I'd probably pass out if Randy Travis was ever in a recording booth with me.''

David Silverman (director): ''It is a crime that we haven't had Will Ferrell on yet. He is always really, really funny. Animation has no limits, so he could come on and pretty much do anything. He could be related to Marge. They have similar 'fros.''

Albert Brooks (villainous Simpsons Movie character Russ Cargill): ''I hear Scooter Libby is now available for speaking engagements. But Lindsay Lohan might not be able to do it ever unless they run the show another five years.''

Tress MacNeille (Cat Lady, Agnes Skinner, Colin, Cookie Kwan, the Mayor's Girlfriend): ''I don't know if it was my idea, but Mark Hamill is a friend of mine and I mentioned to Matt Groening that he would be interested in doing the show, and before you knew it Mark was in the recording booth. I have now set my sights on Christian Bale. I don't know him but I'd like to. Maybe he could shoot the next Batman in Springfield and steal the heart of Miss Springfield.''

Al Jean (writer/producer): ''I have to go with Jim [Brooks] on this one. Our biggest get would be a president, because we have tried them all and none of them have agreed. We got a nice letter from Reagan declining, and Clinton told us that it would demean the office.''
