A Raisin in the Sun (2004)

Broadway insiders groaned at the thought of Bad Boy rap impresario Combs — who didn't have much acting experience — stepping into the complex role of Walter Younger for this revival of Lorraine Hansberry's 1959 play, about a struggling family living on the South Side of Chicago. So how Diddy do? Combs took a solid rap from a few critics, but surprisingly, many thought the mogul acquitted himself well opposite four-time Tony winner Audra McDonald and Hollywood vets Sanaa Lathan and Phylicia Rashad. Alas, Tony wasn't feeling the love — though costars McDonald and Rashad nabbed awards for their performances, Combs wasn't even nominated.
