The Vertical Hour (2006)

After 14 years away, Oscar-nominated actress Moore made her return to New York theater last year in this play, starring as an Ivy League professor and former war correspondent whose views of the post-9/11 world are challenged. Despite its impressive pedigree — it was penned by David Hare (writer of The Blue Room and the screen adaptation of The Hours), costarred Bill Nighy, and was directed by Sam Mendes — Vertical Hour was critically drubbed and eventually bottomed out at the box office.
