THE SCOUT (1994)
The 1994 World Series was canceled due to a players' strike, and this Albert Brooks/Brendan Fraser debacle was hardly any consolation. Fraser played Steve Nebraska, an unhinged flamethrower who can throw a baseball 112 miles per hour. Unrealistic. Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, playing himself, signs him for $55 million. Realistic. Nebraska is dropped off at the field in a helicopter and strikes out 27 batters in a row. Unrealistic. Not surprisingly, moviegoers responded with a strike of their own.
