THAT TOUCH OF MINK (1962)
Cathy Timberlake (Doris Day) is better than any pitcher in the American League: she single-handledly shuts down Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, and Yogi Berra. Of course, she does so taunting the umpire from the Yankees dugout, and the umpire subsequently ejects the Yankee stars. ''I always get that way at ball games,'' sighs Timberlake. ''I lose control.'' Still, the Yankees juggernaut barely notices, as Philip Shayne (Cary Grant) points out: ''It proved they could win without their starting lineup.''
