Little Ricky is born (Jan. 19, 1953)

It's hard to imagine any program today drawing more than 75 percent of the nation's TV sets, but that's exactly what happened when I Love Lucy's title character gave birth to her much-anticipated bundle of joy. Then again, the fact that the show coincidentally aired the same night that series star Lucille Ball gave birth to her own second child probably didn't hurt. Sounds like a cool marketing plan, but pretty hard to pull off.
