Don't Forget the Lyrics (Fox) and The Singing Bee (NBC), summer 2007
Don't Forget the Lyrics Contestants sing karaoke-style to lyrics on a teleprompter until the screen goes blank and they (we're hoping) hideously flub the lyrics. All as Wayne Brady looks on. Players can earn up to $1 million for successfully completing lyrics, but they can also choose to ''take the money and run,'' Deal or No Deal-style.
The Singing Bee Contestants sing karaoke-style to lyrics on a teleprompter until the screen goes blank and they (we're hoping) hideously flub the lyrics. All as Joey Fatone looks on. Players are eliminated as if they were in a spelling bee one wrong lyric and they're out.
Which one will win? Brady is funny (Chappelle's Show, anyone?), but Beekeeper Fatone is fresh off the tango-ing heels of his Dancing With the Stars success. Plus, Bee premiered one full day before DFTL.
