The sitcom vets, who play TV news coanchors at a Pittsburgh station, see clear differences between their current characters and their old ones. ''This character isn't as smart as Frasier, but he's also not as tortured,'' says Grammer. ''Frasier was a mess. This guy is gonna be fun because you're gonna watch him grow up.'' Says Heaton of her new role: ''Kelly is very driven, organized, anal, and controlling.
