''Who shot J.R.?'' mystery solved (Nov. 21, 1980)

Nearly three decades after it first aired, most folks have forgotten the answer to Dallas' most burning question, but almost everyone can still remember the mystery. Indeed, when the show's central character, J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman), was gunned down in the third-season finale, American TV viewers spent a whole summer speculating whodunit (see the many suspects above). The answer? Sister-in-law Kristin (just in case anyone asks).
