LISA'S BESTS
10. Knocked Up
It's not just the dirty-but-sweet thing
writer-director Judd Apatow has nailed
so well that wins this smart sex-and-the-silly
comedy a spot on my list. Nor is it the irresistible
urge to participate in the great national debate of
''Knocked Up or Superbad?'' a showdown worthy of a
jawfest on Charlie Rose. No, my own declaration of
love for the one about the slacker schlub who impregnates
the driven beauty and undergoes his own miraculous
gestation toward adulthood is unconditional:
Here is a wise primer for boys on what women want,
delivered with feminist empathy by a subversive adult
male, and a code-cracking manual for girls on how men
operate, written by a knockdown hilarious guy.
