Director Guy Maddin's extravagantly emotional yet movingly thoughtful silent film from 2006, about the pain and exhilaration of childhood, makes for an abundant DVD release. If you want sound, you can choose which performer you want to hear deliver the film's voice-over narration (options range from Isabella Rossellini to poet John Ashbery). Also includes a making-of that's really a long, utterly mesmerizing monologue by Maddin about his methods and inspirations.
