10. WHAT'S THAT SMELL: THE MUSIC OF JACOB STERLING (Off Broadway)
A superswishy talk-show host (Peter Bartlett) goes behind the music of a fictional fourth-rate Broadway composer, played by librettist-lyricist David Pittu. We hear about Jacob's C-list celeb connections (he and Barbara Eden did a benefit for chronic yeast syndrome: ''Eine Kleine Vagina Musik''), truly tasteless songs (a 9/11-themed ballad about breast implants), and mazelike lyrics (''Let me taste the world, let me wander/Through maki with sake souvlaki and baklava''). The secret to Smell's success? It's all played with a perfectly straight face.
