9. HALO 3
(Bungie/Microsoft, Xbox 360, Mature)
For many fans of a perpetually visored super-soldier named Master Chief, September 25, 2007 marked the end of a story that began six years earlier. And most would say Halo 3 was worth the wait it was a solid-as-body-armor shooter, with less of the political and religious underpinnings that weighed down the previous game and more of that rich and creamy next-gen goodness that makes us go out and buy 42-inch high-def sets. Like the final installment of a good movie trilogy (Lord of the Rings, Mad Max, the Bourne series), Halo 3 offered a satisfying coda to an epically entertaining story. Wook Kim
