8 (tie). Taxi (ABC)
Just because a show happens to be one of TV's funniest comedies doesn't mean it will last. (This we Arrested Development fans know.) The ensemble cab-company comedy tied for No. 8 won the first of three consecutive outstanding comedy Emmys in this, its first season. And yet, by Season 3, it had dipped outside the Top 30 in ratings. ABC dropped it after Season 4, and NBC picked it up. While the Emmy noms continued to come (for winners Judd Hirsch, Carol Kane, and Christopher Lloyd), viewers didn't.
