12. Alice (CBS)
The 1974 film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore landed Ellen Burstyn an Oscar, and the TV adaptation starring Linda Lavin as the singer whose car and dreams break down in Phoenix and leave her waitressing at Mel's Diner finally nabbed its star an Emmy nod in this, its third season. (Lavin didn’t win. To quote Flo, ''Kiss my grits.'')
Seasons on DVD: Zero, a shame since we really want to watch the few episodes Tom Whedon, father of Joss (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), wrote.
