Frank Lucas' story — and Gangster is based on real-life events — is a classic American success story: He was a low-level businessman who figured out a new way to do a thing that had been done for years and, through commitment and resilience, reaped the benefits of innovation. Sure, the business was importing and selling heroin, so he eventually caught the eye of law enforcement. But Lucas' story is an object lesson in entrepreneurship: Be smart and work hard and you'll be rewarded.
