GLORY (1989)
Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Andre Braugher (and, if you're being technical, Matthew Broderick) topline director Edward Zwick's moving ode to the men of the 54th Massachussets, the first black regiment to serve in the Civil War. I dare you not to cry when Denzel does, as the ex-slave being punished in a most inhumane way.
