THE TUSKEGEE AIRMEN (1995)
Another story of black military firsts, this HBO movie — starring Laurence Fishburne, Cuba Gooding Jr., Mekhi Phifer, and Andre Braugher — follows the airmen who broke the Air Force's color barrier during World War II. Enduring racism both institutional and personal, they became one of the finest groups of aviators to fly for the US, never losing a bomber they were charged with escorting. The film can get a little war-movie-cliché happy, but it's still a moving endeavor.
