SHAKA ZULU (1986)
Before Shaka, much of southern Africa was populated by a loose gathering of warring tribes. After Shaka assumed the throne of the Zulu nation, those tribes were united into a fighting force that stood toe-to-toe with Queen Victoria's finest troops. Historians still debate the details of his reign, so it's fitting that this TV miniseries (which was later edited down into a film) relies as much on legend as it does on fact.
