From prison to power, Nelson Mandela's story has become a familiar one, but his solemn fight to end apartheid in South Africa is still a story for the ages. Even though this Showtime telefilm can drag a bit, the powerful, Emmy-nominated performances by Sidney Poitier as Mandela and Michael Caine as South Africa's president, F.W. de Klerk — who helped Mandela wage a peaceful revolution — help elevate it.
