SOMETHING THE LORD MADE (2004)
In the annals of medical history, it is written that Vivien Thomas, a black surgical technician, was half of the team that invented cardiac bypass surgery. His efforts — along with Dr. Alfred Blalock — are all the more impressive once you consider that he never received a medical degree, and that he persevered while battling the forces of segregation. This HBO TV movie won a well-deserved Peabody Award.
